Despite covid, when many exhibitions had been cancelled, it was fortunate that the two Glasshouse exhibitions including my paintings went ahead.
The first, was “Food for Thought” exhibited from 24 October to 6 December. this was an exhibition by the Hastings Valley Fine Art Association. it included 50 paintings by our members and the theme title was interpreted in many ways. My painting “Lessons in Life” focussed on how important food and its preparation plays a part of learning about family and culture. My reference was a very old photo I found in my albums of my daughter Andrea aged around 4 with her paternal grandmother Norma – working at the kitchen bench, possibly making pikelets? The photo captured a moment of learning and closeness and I feel my painting succeeded in depicting this precious moment.
