These paintings were painted from photo references taken from the window of the speeding Ghan in March 2016. The Ghan is a train that travels between Adelaide South Australia to Darwin in the Northern Territory right through Australia’s red centre, following the old Afghan camel route of past times. It is a three day journey, with stops at Katherine, Alice Springs and a stop in the middle of the desert (no station) to watch sunrise. The colours and landscape are inspiring as are the vast expanses. At times, a road is visible near the train track with a number of abandoned car along the way. The red colours of the landscape make the sky appear so much bluer. The landscape near Katherine is a different colour to that further south.
